Language & Learning Evaluation Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does the testing take?

For a Full Psychoeducational Evaluation: Testing takes a total of 6-7 hours over the course of 2 sessions. The first session takes 3 hours. The second session takes about 2-3 hours. At the end of the first session, an estimate will be given on how long the second session will take. The 2 sessions must be within one week of each other to keep testing reliability and consistency.

For a WISC (Wechsler Intelligence Scales for Children) test: Testing takes a total of 1.5-2 hours over the course of 1 session.

  • How long does it take to get my results back?

The time frame from testing to the conference is usually 2-3 weeks. We will reach out to you when we are nearing the end of the written report to schedule a conference. If you are booking within a busier season, notice will be given beforehand.

For WISC Intelligence testing, the time frame from testing to the conference is more like 1-2 weeks.

  • Which tests do you use for your evaluations?

The primary test used is the Woodcock-Johnson Test (oral, achievement, and cognitive). However, other supplemental tests are used to give additional information and insight into these evaluations.

  • Do you do any testing outside of learning disability testing?

Yes! Testing is offered for Gifted & Talented appeals or program admisssion (WISC testing).

Truncated versions of our testing are also offered depending on your individual needs; this is discussed and decided on a case-by-case basis.

  • Do you diagnose for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder?

Since we are not medical doctors, we cannot officially diagnose ADHD. However, pediatricians and psychiatrists refer their patients to us for a psychoeducational evaluation. Our tests pick up on attention difficulties and weaknesses regarding detail. Suppose this is the case after our conference. In that case, the client takes the report to their pediatrician or psychiatrist to aid in their diagnosis. We are happy to help with this process!
